Working as part of our Microbiology Division (MBD), within the Specialty Diagnostics Group, you’ll play an active part in helping us to achieve our mission to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. The Microbiology Division discovers microbiological solutions for the diagnosis of infectious disease and detection of bacterial contamination. We serve public health, clinical laboratories, food companies, environmental screening, and pharmaceutical laboratories with a portfolio of products that include culture media, antimicrobial susceptibility testing solutions and outstanding molecular solutions for food safety testing.

Job Summary:

As a QC Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing daily leadership to a team of up to 10 QC Associates and Professionals within the Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST), Chemistry and Laboratory products and Raw materials (LP-RAWM) teams. You will play a crucial role in developing a hard-working team, ensuring adherence to quality control procedures, and driving continuous improvement efforts. Reporting to the QC Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer service targets and prioritize product and raw materials testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of QC Scientists, providing mentorship, training, and support to ensure effective execution of quality control activities.

  • Develop and maintain quality control procedures, standards, and specifications to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform regular inspections and audits to assess product quality, identifying any defects, non-conformities, or areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize quality incidents and improve overall product quality.

  • Supervise and analyze quality metrics and trends, providing regular reports to management and recommending process improvements.

  • Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, related to quality control, and ensure compliance within the organization.

  • Lead and participate in internal quality audits, coordinating corrective actions and ensuring timely resolution of any non-conformities.

  • Develop a culture of quality and continuous improvement, promoting awareness and accountability across the organization.

  • Train employees on quality control procedures, ensuring adherence to established standards and driving a culture of quality excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Microbiology, Chemistry, Quality Management) or equivalent work experience.

  • Proven experience as a people manager or leading teams/projects, preferably in a laboratory environment!

  • Solid understanding of quality control principles, methodologies, and tools.

  • Familiarity with relevant quality standards and regulations would be beneficial (e.g., ISO 9001, GMP, GLP, FDA regulations)

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.

  • Analytical approach with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present quality-related information.

  • Thorough and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and deliver.

  • Certifications in continuous improvement (e.g., PPI, Six Sigma, Lean) are a plus.
