Phillips 66 Analytical Technician in Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Phillips 66 is currently accepting applications for an Analytical Technician within our Energy, Research, and Innovation (ERI) group in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The selected candidate will be part of a scientific research laboratory team working collaboratively with one or more scientists/engineers under the Lab Operations Supervisor and will have responsibilities which include the safe operation and maintenance of experimental laboratory equipment and the performance of lab experiments and data processing.
Responsibilities May Include:
Maintaining a safe laboratory working environment
Working safely with a variety of chemicals and flammable hydrocarbons
Setting up, calibrating, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
Development of Standard Operating Procedures and Lab Hazard Reviews
Data acquisition, data processing, and the recording of experimental results
Experimental system design in collaboration with scientist/engineers
Assisting in evaluation of experimental results for adjustment of conditions and identification of trends
Applying knowledge and creativity to solve technical problems encountered during the course of completing assigned tasks
Collaborating in a team environment with scientists, engineers, technicians, support personnel, and managers to ensure safe, accurate, and timely completion of individual assignments and team goals
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
One or more years of relevant laboratory experience (professional or college)
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)
Willingness and ability (with or without a reasonable accommodation) to perform/comply with following:
To work standing for a two (2) hour period
To lift a stationary weight of 20-lbs. from a floor to a bench level
To lift a stationary weight of 5-lbs. from bench level to a shelf 18-inches above bench level
To respond to sound and system fault light alarms
To pour solvents from a 4-L bottle into smaller containers
To manipulate high-pressure gas cylinders, use a cylinder cart, and attach a regulator to the cylinder using a wrench
To use a drum dolly or cart to manipulate drum-sized containers
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences or other science related field
2 or more years of relevant laboratory experience (professional or college)
Experience in one or more of the following analytical techniques: gas chromatography, ion chromatography, inductively coupled plasma (ICP), mass spectrometry (MS), automatic titrators, density/viscosity
Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity for performing instrument maintenance and modification
1 or more years of experience performing laboratory calculations, processing data, and calibrating instrumentation
1 or more years of experience in wet chemical preparation methods
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel across multiple groups
Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to complete assigned work with minimal supervision
Proven proactive approach to safety with a good working safety record
Fast learner, able to recognize the need for non-standard procedures
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to follow standard operating procedures
