Join our team at the Department of Defense, Veterans' and Emergency Management as an HVAC Technician! We're searching for a skilled individual who excels in inspecting, repairing, modifying, and installing HVAC equipment. If you have a background in HVAC and a passion for maintenance, this role is perfect for you.

As part of our team, you'll work with various complex equipment, including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, water cooling towers, and more. A typical day could include repairing or replacing defective parts, testing boiler operations, and programming heating and air conditioning system components using computer software. This crucial position supports the 24/7 mission requirements at the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor, Maine, and two geographically separated units in South Portland, Maine. You'll have the autonomy to make decisions necessary to maintain HVAC operations across approximately 550,000 sq. ft. of facilities and 49 buildings.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting, repairing, modifying, and installing HVAC equipment

  • Repairing or replacing defective parts and controls

  • Testing and examining boiler operations

  • Programming heating and air conditioning system components

  • Maintaining records and writing reports using a computerized work order management system

Minimum qualifications:

Current valid Master Plumber's license as issued by the Plumber's Examining Board Or Current valid Master Oil Burner Mechanic's License as issued by the Maine Fuel Board.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Environmental Protection Agency #608 Universal Technician Certification

  • Propane and Natural Gas Technician License with endorsements (Large Equipment Connection/Service)

Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements:

  • Environmental Protection Agency #608 Universal Technician Certification

  • Propane and Natural Gas Technician License with endorsements (Large Equipment Connection/Service)
