Vice President, User Experience

This position leads Nielsen’s product user-experience and design. The ideal candidate is someone highly collaborative and thrives in a fast-paced environment across a broad set of Audience and Media Measurement products. They will lead the UX team to success across research, ideation, conception, design, prototypes and testing across the product portfolio. They possess a strong acumen for User Experience and UI design and combine that with a data-oriented mindset. They possess excellent communication skills to effectively articulate the problem space and the possible solutions to other stakeholders as a part of the product management team.

Responsibilities

  • We are looking for a dedicated individual proficient in B2B SaaS product user experience and UI design. The solutions they produce will be customer-centric, will leverage qualitative data and feedback from Product, Customer Success, Engineering, and other stakeholders. Successful candidates will:

  • Be part of the product organization and will lead the charge for user experience and design for new product features that solve for client use-cases. You will understand the problem space, client workflow, ideate on solutions, and create initial mockups and prototypes when necessary to facilitate the best process – from feedback to final outcomes.

  • Be comfortable leading discovery sessions and aggregating feedback from various stakeholders. You will be able to say “no” to wrong ideas and be comfortable taking risks.

  • Leverage engagement data to help inform decisions and identify levels of risk associated with making experience changes.

  • Have self-motivation and strong communication to work across product management, engineering, and customer success teams. Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, ambiguous problems, and rapid iterations.  

  • Collaborate with other areas of the business, including product management and engineering to discover/define the best UX for new products and features that solve client problems (drive discovery) and ensure progression towards business KPIs

  • Act as a bridge between product and engineering to find the best balance between best product experience and practical technical limitations (balance effort and perfection).

  • Leverage product engagement data to make informed UX decisions - familiarity with product analytics tools such as Pendo, Heap etc. is a requirement.

  • Refine and drive design philosophy, principles and guidelines through a design system oriented approach across products.

  • Prepare and perform usability tests with users to gather direct feedback.

  • Manage the UX and Design functions for the Nielsen product suite. This includes leading the team of designers including team meetings, reviews, personal development, mentoring and coaching. Be a contributor to the work while managing and mentoring the UX/Design team (player/coach role).

  • Have 10+ years’ experience as a UX Designer, including 6+ years as a leader of a UX function

  • Have a proven record of leading user-experience for B2B products

  • Experience building product design, content and customer research teams. Demonstrate a portfolio showcasing results, processes, best in class user experience and products

  • Be detail driven, and able to manage time across several projects at the same time

  • An Expertie of design, usability and research best practices.

  • Excellent leadership, strategic and analytical thinking, communication, problem solving, influencing and interpersonal skills

  • Understand how to get things done, embracing the reality of working across teams to move teams and important initiatives forward

  • Can cut through noise to promote what is good for the organization

  • Builds trust, guides peers and team through risk and change - Leverage networks to navigate the company landscape

  • Embraces ethics, following company policies - handles conflict management, refrains from judgment before understanding the big picture and different views

  • Experience working with digital advertising technologies, CTV/OTT platforms is highly preferred
