NPI group within Solar Turbines (Gas Turbine Package Engineering) is on the front line of developing new, innovative products that are crucial to the success of customers in a wide range of Industries. We are looking for a motivated, creative, out of the box thinking, Design Engineer to work in a fast-paced engineering environment using the agile development process to see Solar experience profitable growth and make our customers successful.
What you will do:
As a mechanical design engineer for the Ancillary Systems, the candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis and implementation of Ancillary systems and components. The candidate will interface with teams across Solar’s business units to explore methodologies to improve quality and reduce cost. The candidate will prioritize opportunities to support sales, resolve field issues, or improve customer experience.
Initial area of focus will include ventilation system design. Candidate will support sales selection of ventilation systems, fans and motors, while also developing new system layouts and standardized component selections. The candidate should have exceptional creativity, attention to detail, and is expected to explore advanced analytical concepts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in with 5-7 years of experience in Mechanical or related Engineering field
Background and working knowledge of Gas Turbine Principles and Operation
Experience in the use of CAD modeling and PLM software, such as CREO and Windchill
Experience in Engineering Change Requests or Engineering Change Management
3-5 years of HVAC or ventilation system design experience
Experience understanding and applying CFD software results.
Experience in supplier interaction and writing and evaluating technical supplier specifications.
Candidate should be capable of working effectively under their own initiative as well as part of a team.
The candidate should be able to document and communicate ideas clearly.
Experience with Scaled Agile Engineering processes added advantage.

Documents each stage of the design process for audit and review purposes.
Follows standard guidelines and best practices while carrying out DFM procedures.
Implements DFM methodologies to standardize product designs, simplify operations, and reduce costs for certain types of manufacturing processes.
Utilizes basic DFM tools and technologies to implement DFM methodologies.
