Amazon Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer, Amazon Search Relevance Measurement in Bangalore, India

How would you like to impact millions of customers around the world? This is a rare opportunity to build a core part of Search Relevance Customer Operations team undergoing rapid investment and growth.

This team measures the spectrum of Search experiences on Amazon and helps root cause and deep dive escalations from customers and leadership. From highlighting pain points to surfacing abuse on behalf of customers, root causing problems in the complex Search stack and protecting the customer from compromised experience. We seek to improve customer perception of Search and trust through improved customer comprehension of our search results.

We are looking for a passionate QA Engineer to help us enhance the customer journey by performing SearchTroubleshooting whenever an escalation if flighted either by leadership or by customers. You will help root cause and improve customer experiences viewed by millions of people a day. You will have the opportunity to learn and be a part of the Amazon retail website ecosystem globally.

As senior member of the team you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to other QAEs in the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and professional development.

Key job responsibilities

Our QA Engineers test code at both the service and user level, using a variety of black box, gray box, and white box testing techniques. As a QA Engineer, you will innovate our test strategy across multiple dependencies, locales and device types and implement highly scalable automation to enable testing of different layers of Search stack.

You will work to be able to understand software internals, debug complex problems including performance bottlenecks, and write automated tests in and/or using existing automated tools.

QA Engineers work with Software Development Engineers and Business Owners to understand business drivers and technical implementation of features.

QA Engineers also work with groups such as Product Management, User Interaction, and Customer Support to understand customer usage models and develop test plans and suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests.

You must have experience in diagnosing Search release problems through A/B testing and taking corrective action, such as escalating as needed, to resolve and achieve results. Our QA Engineers are also responsible for driving our software development process toward quality-centric methodologies and for reporting on test progress, metrics, and issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of quality assurance engineering experience

  • 4+ years of delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives experience

  • Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an QAE role

  • Experience in automation testing

  • Experience in manual testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, Objective C

  • Experience on debugging Search Stack e.g Lucene, Solr, Ranking Models, Learning to Rank etc.
