The Digital Commerce team is recruiting for a Software Development Manager to lead a key part of our development team focused on building a commerce integrations platform to enable businesses across the company to sell digital goods and provide subscriptions. Some of our noteworthy businesses are Prime, Kindle Unlimited, Audible, Applications, Music, Books, Newspapers, and Videos. We are currently developing the next-generation commerce integrations with broader commerce engines to bring new features to our partner businesses and provide great experience to our customers. As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team focused solving problems that make it easier to buy subscriptions and digital goods across Amazon and external partners. The team would enable businesses by ensuring successful order processing. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of these services, at the same uphold the bar for OE (operational excellence). You will also be responsible for growing your team via hiring and developing engineers to meet their career goals. Candidates will need to think outside the box to quickly come up with innovative solutions to problems that are unique to Amazon. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing real time scalable systems, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience

• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
