Johnson & Johnson Global Services is recruiting a talented and passionate User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Design Lead, located in Manila or Bangalore. As the UI/UX Lead, you will drive the design strategy and user experience for our digital learning products, ensuring they are intuitive, visually compelling, and engaging for a global audience. Working across cross-functional teams, you will apply Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design principles to create innovative and user-centric learning experiences. This role provides the opportunity to own the Learning Design System, mentor and lead a team of designers and contribute significantly to J&J’s vision for impactful learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • UI/UX Design & Standards: Develop, implement, and uphold UI/UX design standards to enhance digital and print learning experiences across platforms, including eLearning modules, guides, presentations, videos, and infographics, ensuring a seamless and user-centered design.

  • Learning Design System Ownership: Build, maintain, and refine a comprehensive Learning Design System to ensure consistency, scalability, and adherence to brand guidelines. Regularly update components based on user feedback, design trends, and accessibility standards.

  • User Research, Design Thinking & Human-Centered Design: Conduct user research to identify learner needs, pain points, and behaviors. Apply Design Thinking and Human-Centered Design methodologies to create actionable insights that enhance product usability and engagement, working closely with designers, developers, and stakeholders.

  • Mobile Design Optimization: Design and optimize UI/UX for mobile and responsive platforms, ensuring visual assets are adapted and intuitive across various devices and screen sizes, providing an optimal user experience on both mobile and desktop.

  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Lead UI/UX testing activities to ensure designs are user-friendly, accessible, and responsive. This includes usability testing, accessibility testing, A/B testing, heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, and performance testing for both mobile and desktop. Regularly collect feedback to refine user flows and enhance overall product quality.

  • Designing for Translations & Localization: Develop designs that accommodate translations and localization, ensuring layouts and UI elements are flexible for different languages, text lengths, and cultural nuances, providing a consistent learner experience.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor direct reports, providing coaching and development opportunities. Manage team capacity, clarify priorities, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality outputs. Champion the J&J 5 Conversations to enhance individual performance and foster career growth.

  • Coaching and Mentorship: Onboard new team members and provide ongoing guidance and support to foster a high-performance environment.

  • Agile Project Management: Utilize Agile and Scrum methodologies to promote collaborative, iterative development. Track project milestones in alignment with KPIs and OKRs.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including training strategists, instructional designers, visual designers, and quality, to meet project requirements, align on learning objectives, and deliver impactful results.

  • Innovation & Technology Integration: Current on the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, including Generative AI and other emerging solutions, to enhance design workflows and improve UI/UX quality.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Multimedia, or a related field.

Required:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of UI/UX design experience within a complex, matrixed environment.

  • Expert-level proficiency in UI/UX prototyping tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and other design software (e.g., PowerPoint, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).

  • Strong ability to visualize complex content through flows, scenarios, personas, and user journeys and convert storyboards into final deliverables.

  • Proven experience building, managing, and evolving design systems for scalability and brand alignment.

  • Strong understanding of designing for translations and localization, including awareness of text expansion, right-to-left (RTL) layouts, and cultural visual nuances.

  • Experience conducting usability testing, accessibility testing, A/B testing, heuristic evaluations, performance testing, and prototyping to gather user insights and enhance design decisions.

  • Solid project and change management skills, proficiency in Agile and Scrum methodologies, and effective stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members, fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture.

  • Excellent visual, written, and oral communication skills, with strong proficiency in English.

  • Strong collaboration skills, promoting a positive work environment.

  • Demonstrates discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in all aspects of work.

Preferred:

  • Experience in developing UI/UX training content and instructional design.

  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web-based coding.

  • Understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories.

  • Proven experience leading regional or global teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, Planner, Power Apps, Power Automate, CoPilot).

  • Passion for leveraging digital technologies and automation to enhance productivity, learning experiences, and design processes.

Other:

Ability to travel up to 5% in alignment with business needs and company policies.
