IBM Firmware - Verification Engineer in Bangalore, India

Your Role and Responsibilities

The India System design team is responsible to own and deliver System design milestones for IBM POWER and mainframe platforms. The team collaborates with Global System design & development teams and stakeholders. As a Functional Verification Engineer, candidate will be responsible for ensuring that hardware and software products meet their specified requirements and perform as intended in power/thermal sub-system. Their primary responsibility involves designing and executing test cases, analyzing results, and reporting defects. They collaborate closely with developers to understand system functionality and validate that it aligns with user needs and expectations. Additionally, they may be involved in developing test automation frameworks and tools to improve efficiency and coverage in the testing process.

Responsibilities

As a Functional Verification Engineer, the responsibilities include

  • Developing test plans and strategies to cover all aspects of design, identifying failure points, and determining the best verification methods.

  • Understand server hardware/firmware functionalities and schematics.

  • Creating test cases to exercise design under various conditions.

  • Running test cases, analysing results, and identifying design errors.

  • Employing various verification tools and techniques to improve efficiency and coverage.

  • Working closely with developers to understand design intent, reproduce issues, and implement fixes.

  • Designing and developing test automation scripts using Python and the Robot Framework.

  • Maintaining and updating existing test automation frameworks to improve functionality and coverage.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science or Electrical & Electronics engineering.

  • 8+ Years of experience with Firmware Development & Testing.

  • Experience with Python, C/ C++ Programming and Linux operating system.

  • Experience with designing, developing and testing embedded devices.

  • Proficiency in test automation using Python and the Robot Framework.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Familiarity with server design and architecture.

  • Experience with Git/GitHub or similar version control software.

  • Experience in generating test cases for embedded devices.
