Sightline is seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst who will be responsible for managing, with a high degree of accuracy, the Sightline project financials and reporting. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director Finance for IT@JH. This position has primary responsibility for the financial reporting, financial analysis, account reconciliations, and journal entries for the Sightline ERP replacement project.
This position will develop, and issue timely and accurate monthly GAAP financial reporting packages, including budget to actual analysis of the results of the responsible Affiliates. This position will present the monthly actual versus budget analysis to Sightline finance Leadership. This position is responsible for keeping current on all technical GAAP accounting literature. Position will work with Financial Operations Manager to document and implement any new applicable GAAP accounting pronouncements to ensure the appropriate accounting is reported within the Affiliate financial packages.
This position will coordinate with central Accountants and IT@JH Finance team members to ensure all journal entries are recorded and that monthly reconciliations are complete and accurate, all within appropriate deadlines.
Also responsible for preparation of the external annual audit samples and coordination of the financial statement audit for the Sightline project financials, if applicable. This includes preparation of timely and accurate full drafts of completed audited financial statements including new or revised footnote disclosures, and all schedules requested by the auditors in the usual and customary audit process.
Required to understand the fundamentals of financial reporting, including the complexities involved with preparing accurate GAAP financial statements (Statement of Operations and changes in Net Assets, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows). Technical areas can also include consolidation accounting, eliminations, intercompany transactions, purchase accounting, noncontrolling interests, contribution accounting, investment and derivative accounting, etc. This position will produce timely and accurate monthly GAAP financial reporting packages, including budget to actual analysis of the results of the responsible Affiliates. This position is responsible for keeping current on all technical GAAP accounting literature, and implementation of all new required GAAP accounting pronouncements.
Other responsibilities for this position will be mentorship and teaching of staff, fixed asset accounting and other projects (e.g. financial analyses requested by directors/affiliates, support for JHU/JHM budget presentation, preparation of financial statements for benefit plan audits, etc.).
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management Responsibilities
Overall Project Effort Tracking and Reporting
Develop Overall and Operating Reporting and Presentation Templates
Submit the monthly financial transactions, such as KB15N’s, journal entries, and non-payroll cost transfers, on a timely basis (before deadlines). Ensures transactions have correctly posted.
Forecast budgets including: future projections, depreciation schedules and related documentation from analysis of historical data trends and/or with input from Sightline staff on a regular and ad-hoc basis, prepare tracking budget expenditures versus projections;
Coordinate, consolidate, and analyze departmental information for preparation of the monthly/quarterly and annual operating/capital budgets and five-year to ten-year plans
Prepare internal financial statements, and review and assess materials prepared by the directors within the organization
Prepare written comments on variances from budgeted monthly and at year end close
Maintain broad understanding of the financial positions/conditions of the various cost centers throughout the department.
Meet with and serve as a go-to resource for cost center managers and IT directors.
Process check requests and pay invoices, create purchase orders and approve travel reimbursements.
Serve as a key approver for all Concur Travel and Expense reimbursements for Sightline expense reimbursements
Serves as the PCard holder for both JHU and JHHS cards and provides excellent customer service for “on the spot” purchases that are needed.
Develop and manage Operating and Capital Cash projections to ensure accurate liquidity and funding analysis.
Oversee Depreciation Reporting after system go-live to maintain accurate financial records and asset valuation.
Prepare and consolidate Affiliate Reporting to track financial performance across partner entities.
Develop new Allocations and perform analysis to optimize cost distribution.
Manage Audit Requests to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facilitate smooth audit processes.
Maintain comprehensive Record Keeping systems for easy access to historical financial data and documentation.
Participate in project expense and Capital Forecasting efforts to provide insights into future financial commitments and manage project budgets effectively.
Financial Analysis Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze the current and projected operations.
Assimilates information from various sources to draw conclusions, to effect change in processes, procedures, and reporting, and/or theorize downstream impacts.
Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts and draws conclusions with direction (as necessary) from others. Must be able to interpret technical and detailed guidelines, policies and procedures, as well as explain or describe moderately complex information and presentation materials.
Plan and conduct complex studies to determine the cost of business for various levels of departmental operations.
Analyzes complex financial data, extracting and defining relevant information using various accounting systems, communicating necessary information to applicable members of the IT administration team.
Other Responsibilities
Updates existing procedures as needed, as well as creates new procedures as warranted.
Responsible for accurate data entry.
Utilize various tools and data analysis programs to enhance decision making surrounding costing, funding, consumption of services, pricing and integration.
Arrives at work on time and is prepared to assist coworkers, faculty, and both internal and external customers at the beginning of his/her workday.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive MS Excel experience (Pivot Tables/Advanced Formula development).
Experience with Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Outlook) and SharePoint.
SAP ERP (Including ECC/R3).
Proficient in the use of software applications, databases and spreadsheets.
Ability to work independently and perform a high degree of accuracy.
Superior math aptitude.
High level of self-organization.
Ability to handle/manage and organize a heavy workload.
Ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines.
Able to coordinate the work of a diversified staff in various environments.
Demonstrates ability for self-direction and initiation, as well as ability to work independently and as part of a team, to address problems/tasks.
Must be organized and able to appropriately prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
Five years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with ERP implementations.
Knowledge of Johns Hopkins policies and procedures.
Experience working in an IT Financial Management capacity.
Experience in a large and complex finance department.
Experience with Advanced BI and Automation tools like SAP Analysis (BusinessObjects), Tableau, PowerBI and UIPath.

Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
