Sightline is a multi-year initiative that leverages a cross-disciplinary, inter-entity team and hundreds of stakeholders in selecting and implementing the next ERP software platform for the Johns Hopkins enterprise, enabling broader operational transformation and the reduction of administrative barriers to mission critical work. Sightline’s scope includes changes in business processes, policies and other operating considerations that will make administrative actions -such as purchasing supplies and services, managing grant budgets, creating financial reports, and hiring and recruiting- simpler, streamlined, and more standardized throughout the enterprise.

The Sightline program is investing in and cares deeply about enabling this change through a dedicated team that will work across the University and Health System to engage and prepare the Johns Hopkins community for that change with communications, engagement, and training and development program.

Sightline is seeking a Sightline Training & Development Manager who is responsible for managing the Johns Hopkins Sightline training and development program. This role will lead a team in the design, development, and delivery of relevant and effective training to prepare the Johns Hopkins community for system and process changes. The Manager of Training and Development will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, managing, and evaluating training for all ERP end users. This individual functions as both a subject matter expert and a team manager to ensure training quality and consistency.

The Manager of Training and Development is a key member of the Sightline-Business Modernization Project’s Change Management team and provides leadership, oversight and management of the Project’s training and development efforts. The Manager of Training and Development plans, organizes, leads and directs multiple initiatives in support of the Change Management portfolio. The Manager of Training and Development possesses superior interpersonal, communications and collaboration skills to foster transparent and service-oriented relationships throughout the University and Health System. The Manager of Training and Development supervises Training team on the project and works in an integrated manner with the other areas of the Change Management team, the functional leadership on the project, and the Training and Development leadership across the University and Health System.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops relationships with stakeholders in all areas of Johns Hopkins where training and support needs are identified, ensuring their engagement in the training process.

  • Manages all aspects of Sightline training and support but not limited to,

  • End user training, system support and other projects including revisions as system and workflows change.

  • Ensuring trainers are prepared and testing in accordance with Sightline and industry standards.

  • Diagnoses complex issues and recommends remedial actions to correct problems using comprehensive application knowledge.

  • Tracks performance and identifies trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Manages metrics for all areas.

  • Manages a team of training and support resources which can consist of multiple educational professionals.

  • Coaches training team members and provides constructive feedback, advice, and best practices.

  • Reviews work of team members for compliance and consistency with established standards.

  • Completes performance evaluations, makes hiring decisions, and analyzes the effectiveness of team members, techniques, programs, and associated end-user outcomes and provides recommendations for improvement.

  • Creates, cultivates, and manages a high performing and cohesive team for successful implementation of end user training.

  • Integrates continual performance improvement into the structure and processes of the entire training program.

  • Effectively and consistently communicates with members of all the Sightline teams as well as external Johns Hopkins teams as necessary.

  • Routinely provides others with the information they need to do their jobs.

  • Respects the individuality of staff and interdisciplinary colleagues in a way that embraces the diverse backgrounds, talents, and contributions that each brings to the organization.

  • Ensures that all training activities are aligned with organizational performance improvement goals.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Deep experience in the design, development, and delivery of effective training programs using a range of training modes and methods.

  • Ability to measure outcome-based learning and training program effectiveness.

  • Knowledge and experience in best practices for adult learning and instructional design.

  • Experience in leading and delivering an ERP and transformational training program.

  • Proficient in the use and understanding of learning management systems (LMS).

  • Experience and skills in prioritization of work when faced with timelines, deadlines, and conflicting demands.

  • Experience managing complex training schedules, training logistics, and training budgets.

  • Strong and consistent leadership skills, able to develop and lead highly successful teams and achieve results in a large, complex setting.

  • Effective collaboration skills, able to communicate and work professionally and diplomatically with all organizational levels.

  • Strong project management skills, able to work at the strategic and tactical levels, prioritize work, and ensure projects are completed on time.

  • Superior written and oral communications skills, able to demonstrate this in leadership and team presentations.

  • Exemplary customer service skills, able to demonstrate and instill this orientation throughout the team.

  • Diplomatic and innovative in effectively working at both the strategic and detail levels.

  • Excellent presentation, training delivery, writing, editing, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prioritize work, manage team, and ensure projects are completed on time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Training or related field.

  • Five years of experience of leadership in training and development, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably working with a large department.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Training and delivery, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering internal training programs.

  • Skilled in measuring training outcomes and monitoring and adjusting training programs to meet outcomes.

  • Experience building relationships across a large academic/medical institution to support the delivery of a comprehensive training program.

  • Ability to effectively work at both the strategic and detail levels.

  • Analytical mindset with an understanding of data-driven decision-making.

Starting Salary Range: $85,500 - $149,800 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm
