Position Summary:

Reporting to the Budgeting and Financial Senior Manager or Technical Billing Manager, the Senior Patient Financial Reporting Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Patient Financial Service management by generating financial and statistical reports used for revenue cycle decision support, assist with preparing and monitoring of departmental budgets and metrics, complete ad hoc reports and special projects as needed and assist with the annual external audit.

Critical to this position, the incumbent would be responsible for working independently to understand and define problems, compile and analyze data, recommend alternative solutions and report findings to various levels of management. The incumbent responsibilities include, but not limited to, report writing. Incumbent will focus on compiling various internal and external financial reports using programs such as SQL server management studios, Cyber Query, Visual Cyber Query, Crystal reports, EPIC hyperspace, Meditech, Meditech Magic, Crystal SQL designer and other computer programs, such as Monarch, Morrissey, and Med Assets.

Competencies:

Education:

Required: Associates Degree, Epic Clarity Certification, or 5 years of direct reporting experience in a revenue cycle business office beyond the work experience requirement. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree. CPA is a plus.

Knowledge:

  • Requires a thorough understanding of complex logic in Microsoft Excel software

  • Responsible for various internal and external financial reports using programs such as SQL server management studios, Cyber Query, Visual Cyber Query, Crystal reports, EPIC hyperspace, Meditech, Meditech Magic, Crystal SQL designer, Morrissey and other computer programs

  • Experience with creating month end reports

  • Advanced knowledge of data balancing with a variety of financial reports

  • Requires advanced knowledge of healthcare finance and accounting principles

Skills:

  • Advanced ability to create ad hoc and production detail and summary reports for internal and external requestors.

  • Ability to complete requests for changes and modifications of various reports and upload into production.

  • Ability to maintain strict deadlines while reporting for multiple hospital entities and various computer systems

  • Ability to upload macros and reporting logic into production for use when report writing

  • Requires excellent critical thinking and analytical skills to assemble data that is responsive to senior management’s needs, providing pertinent analysis and recommendations, as requested

  • Requires leadership ability to direct other without having line management authority

  • Requires attention to detail, for preparing statistical/financial reports for management’s review. Provide guidance on creating reports based on requestor’s specifications.

Required Licensure Certification, etc.:

  • CPA is a plus

  • Epic Clarity certification is a plus (required if incumbent doesn’t meet requirements listed in education)

  • May be required to obtain necessary certification(s) to complete assigned tasks

Work Experience:

  • Three (3) years of related work experience with reporting

  • One (1) year Healthcare revenue cycle experience  Epic is a plus.
