The University of Maryland School of Medicine - Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Careis currently recruiting for aSenior Clinical Business Operations Director. Assist in establishing strategic long-term goals and objectives. Manage accountability and stewardship of HR, Finance, and facilities in compliance within the Clinical department. Ensure Divisional subordinate supervisors and staff adhere to the defined internal controls. Manage and plan clinical operations and expansion including clinical contracts. Create diverse grant portfolio to include both federal, non-federal, state and industry contracts. * Provide support to senior department leadership and Division Chief in achieving business and financial objectives for both Division and Clinical Department. Negotiate contracts, expands clinical services, identify research and clinical research opportunities. * Assist in the administration of the clinical enterprise: ensuring best practices, improving systems/strategy, create revenue optimization, monitor faculty productivity, and direct clinical improvement opportunities. * Provide solutions for maximizing clinical productivity. * Work with the clinical department to oversee facility space allocation and layout. * Create, project, and achieve divisional financial objectives. * Manage funding profiles and payroll. * Provide direction by assuring that proposals and awards comply with federal, state, agency, and institutional policies. * Maintain and promote awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options. Direct oversight of clinician licensure, credentials, and develops training to ensure faculty are in compliance with campus, state, and federal laws and regulations. * Create a cohesive work team that works collaboratively to achieve Divisional goals. Oversee the recruitment, performance, and training of team members and continually reviews strengths and weaknesses of staff to maintain a well-trained, highly involved, and motivated team. Handle complaints, resolve conflicts, and active in the grievance process. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, finance, marketing, accounting, human resources, or other related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience:Eight (8) years of experience in administrative and financial operations with at least one (1) year of experience in managed care, medical practice, or a related clinical environment Supervisory Experience: Four (4) years of direct supervisory or management experience. Thorough knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to support a mission and strategic vision. Instructional, training, and teambuilding skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships. Skill in consultation and change management.
