Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Research Assistant for an existing community-academic partnership between the Department of Mental Health at JHU Bloomberg School of Public Health and Thrive Family Life Center in Richmond, Virginia.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Explain the study and participant rights, as well as consent participants for enrollment.

  • Assist in maintaining effective communication throughout the course of the study, day-to-day management and conduct of the study obtaining, and managing the administrative and time sensitive aspects of study coordination.

  • Help Dr. Adams recruit participants, monitor retention, and manage administrative tasks related to the study.

  • Oversee participant enrollment efforts, data collection, and analysis, ensuring adherence to study protocols and ethical guidelines.

  • Coordinate outreach activities with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to recruit eligible participants, conduct interviews, and administer surveys.

  • Supervise student Research Assistants, providing training, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress.

  • Contribute to data analysis, literature reviews, and report preparation, collaborating closely with the research team to generate meaningful insights and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, or related field preferred, with coursework in relevant areas.

  • Previous Research Experience: Previous involvement in research projects related to mental health, racial disparities, or youth well-being.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and qualitative analysis using software using Dedoose.

  • Ability to mentor and supervise student Research Assistants effectively.

  • Understanding of ethical guidelines in human subject's research.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills for academic writing and presentations.

  • Capacity to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary research teams.

  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing project needs.

  • Dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in research practices.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY ($30.00 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Schedule: 9 am – 5 pm
