Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland
We are seeking a Research Assistant who will participate in research software development, including ask requirements collection functions design and program coding, and software implementation and maintenance; Perform application and research programming work in natural language processing; Develop, train and evaluate large language models; Develop software systems for data acquisition and annotation; Participate in appropriate software maintenance and support.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Perform as a member of the development team at Center for Language and Speech Processing, a highly ranked center for computational linguistics and natural language processing.
Develop frameworks for annotating and working with data, developing novel NLP systems, training and evaluating large language models.
Establish and meet appropriate goals and milestones research software development process, and appropriately test, evaluate and document the developed software.
Collaborate with, aid, and support other team members utilizing this software and derived products.
Internal & external contacts required as part of the job,
students, faculty researchers.
Special Skills & Knowledge
- Must have some experience in natural language processing, large language models and medical data.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in computer science or related discipline.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
