Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service Program Officer for Pre-Arrival Services - Global Refuge in Baltimore, Maryland

The Program Officer for Pre-Arrival will report to the Assistant Director for Refugee Pre-Arrival Services. This position will support the Reception and Placement (RandP) Pre-Arrival Services Unit in leading the development of a strong foundation for the successful resettlement and integration of Global Refuge refugee clients. This work will be carried out through accurate, timely, and responsive technical processing of refugee cases. This position will also supervise one Program Specialist.This position can be remote with occasional trips to Baltimore as needed.

DUTIES

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for all pre-arrival processing functions and the IRIS refugee database.
  • Ensure the quality of daily pre-arrival case processing including but not limited to post-arrival benefit requests, assurances, case placement, transfers, and other core refugee processing functions.
  • Manage weekly Allocation meetings to choose and place refugee cases across the Global Refuge affiliate network.
  • Provide leadership to manage capacity and track critical arrival trends internally at Global Refuge and with the affiliate network.
  • Provide expert technical assistance to the Global Refuge affiliate network on all pre-arrival functions.
  • Represent Global Refuge during various meetings and convenings, working directly with the Department of State, Refugee Processing Center (RPC), Resettlement Support Centers (RSCs), International Office of Migration (IOM), and affiliate partners within the Global Refuge network.
  • Manage training materials and resources for the network on the Global Refuge extranet.
  • Develop and present professional training modules and live webinars for the network and new local resettlement staff.
  • Review and submit timely assurances for all Global Refuge cases.
  • Process case transfers between Global Refuge and the other Resettl ment Agencies (RAs).
  • Additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree preferred in combination with a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with refugee databases such as IRIS and RPC databases
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Excellent MS Office Suite skills, particularly in Word and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to compliance standards.
  • Ability to work independently while demonstrating flexibility to adapt to the needs of the team.
  • Experience with and commitment to working in a fast-paced and diverse work environment.
