ICF Environmental Scientist - Hybrid in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

ICF seeks an Environmental Scientist to work within our Survey, Policy, Health, Environment, Regulation, and Economics (SPHERE) team. This position will primarily support ICF’s environmental work with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and various federal agencies (e.g., Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Interior, etc.). The Environmental Scientist will support a broad range of client-facing multimedia environmental compliance projects.

Location: This position is based locally in the Baltimore, Maryland area and will include some time spent in the client office. Open to both hybrid and remote work, but the candidate must be located in the Baltimore, MD area.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical support to assist with environmental management systems and programs, multimedia environmental compliance obligations and inspections at MDOT facilities, and sustainability initiatives, as needed.

  • Provide on-site environmental program support to MDOT staff in the Baltimore area, as needed.

  • Assist MDOT with data compilation and analysis; developing environmental compliance guidance, reports, and presentations; and using MDOT’s database and information management system.

  • Assist MDOT with intra-agency meetings and coordination and provide general support for the preparation of a wide range of client reports and work products including assistance with policy analysis and development of internal and external outreach.

  • Perform research, data collection, and quantitative data analysis in support of a broad range of technical projects for other state and federal clients, including performing research, Internet, and database searches; compiling, organizing, and synthesizing data and information; and preparing graphs, charts, tables, and figures displaying results.

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for the development and delivery of technical training courses, including for the production and shipping of training materials and supplies.

What you’ll need:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related technical field (chemistry, geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, etc.).

  • 5+ years of experience supporting a range of projects in the environmental area, including environmental compliance, auditing, environmental and energy policy, sustainability, and site assessment with the following:

  • Knowledge of state environmental compliance and cleanup programs, especially in Maryland

  • Knowledge of federal environmental cleanup and compliance programs (e.g., Superfund, RCRA, Brownfields).

Professional skills and experience we would love for you have:

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Proficient in conducting quantitative analyses using Microsoft Access and Excel; experience with GIS software is desirable.

  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with diverse project teams and clients.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

$65,416.00 - $111,207.00
