Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service Director for Employment Services in Baltimore, Maryland

The Director for Employment Services will hire and lead a for-profit temporary staffing agency to expand employment services for immigrants and refugees. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a sustainable business model and operations for an employment agency including identifying gaps in the marketplace that Global Refuge is uniquely positioned to fill, partnering with agencies to identify skilled talent, and managing compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

This is a new subsidiary and the ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and be comfortable juggling multiple tasks including business development and recruitment, developing strategy and performance goals, and maintaining compliance with the laws and regulations governing the staffing industry. The Director will also need to excel at building relationships and identifying synergies within the complexity of the other Global Refuge programs.

    DUTIES

  • Develop a successful business plan, establish processes, define targets, create a budget, determine pricing strategy and revenue/profit goals, and identify necessary resources to create and run a Global Refuge temporary staffing agency. Monitor and report progress and results to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

  • Identify industries and businesses to develop employment opportunities and promote the hiring of clients.

  • Determine appropriate staffing levels required to meet goals. Hire, train, motivate, and retain staff.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with affiliates and partners consisting of other non-profits that focus on providing services to the refugee or immigrant communities.

  • Evaluate existing or new technology (CRM).

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

  • Manage the budget responsibly and identify new opportunities for growth and investment that are aligned with LIRS' mission.

  • Implement job training, development, and coaching opportunities to prepare clients for success in interviews and on the job.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience within the staffing or employment industry, at least 5 of which should have been in a leadership role, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in professional staff management.

  • Experience managing budgets and setting and achieving financial goals.

  • Ability to develop a roadmap that can be replicated in new markets or industries.

  • Experience working with the immigrant community, or a culturally diverse group desired.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Entrepreneurial-minded with a strong track record of achieving results.

  • Able to pivot in response to market changes or new information.

  • History of leading and growing a successful team.

  • Proven track record of selling and growing B2B accounts and leading others.

  • Success using both analytics and relationships to drive results.

  • Track record of delivering results in a metrics-driven environment.

  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work model including onsite and remote.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and influencing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to be resourceful in leveraging technology to search for candidates.

  • Comfort in a position with a major impact opportunity.
