Transplant Surgeon Job The Department of Surgery, Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified transplant surgeon at the level of Assistant Professor level to join our abdominal transplant program. Faculty rank and financial compensation is commensurate with experience and credentials. The applicant’s main clinical focus should include kidney and pancreas transplantation, laparoscopic/robotic donor nephrectomy, and multi-organ procurement. Candidates should be board certified/eligible, a graduate of an ASTS-approved transplant surgery fellowship program, and eligible for a State of Maryland medical license. The successful candidate should be able to perform kidney and pancreas transplants, laparoscopic/robotic donor nephrectomy and multi-organ procurement independently. Ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of post-fellowship clinical work experience. Opportunity to be involved in liver transplantation will depend on individual interests. Experience in pancreas transplants and robotic surgery is preferred. Opportunity for leadership roles exist within the Division of Transplantation and will depend on candidate credentials. The Abdominal Organ Transplant program performs about 100 liver, 180-220 kidney and 20-40 kidney-pancreas transplants annually. Faculty will have the privilege and responsibility of helping to teach transplant surgery to the integrated general surgery resident and transplant fellow trainees and will have the opportunity expand their research and scholarly activities to achieve national and international recognition as they advance the field. About the Division: The Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine includes 10 full-time and part-time faculty providing transplant surgery services primarily at the University of Maryland Medical Center Campus with ancillary practices through-out the State of Maryland and perform between 250 and 400 organ transplants each year. The Division sponsors a two-year Transplant Fellowship program. The Division is home to several NIH-funded surgeon-scientists and has a Clinical Research Unit with over 20 prospectively enrolling clinical trials.
