Senior Staff Accountant /Assistant Office Manager

The Senior Staff Accountant/Assistant Office Manager reports to the Accounting Supervisor or Business Manager .

Position Overview

The S enior Staff Accountant/Assistant Office Manager , in collaboration with the Accounting Supervisor, assumes a vital role in meticulously ensuring the accuracy of all dealership-level financial reporting. This position serves as a linchpin, providing substantial support to our esteemed Business Managers.

Location: Phoenix, AZ (On-site); Some travel required

Compensation Range: $22.95/hr - $31.05/hr

Area of Responsibility

Financial Reporting:

  • Review all schedules to ensure accurate and timely accounting.

  • Ensures regular reviews of GL activity, supporting schedules and balance sheet accounts

  • Audit of daily bank postings

  • Assist in compilation and prepar ation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

  • Manage various balance sheet reconciliations

  • Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and investigate variances

  • Manage and reconcile inventory accounts

  • Monitor internal control procedures and identify areas of opportunity to improve internal controls

    Daily and Monthly Reconciliation Responsibilities:

  • Diligently perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Manage the posting of NSF checks and facilitate communication with UTA when required .

  • Rigorously reconcile warranty statements to the general ledger.

  • Oversee reconciliations of Pre-Delivery Inspection receivables and Miscellaneous receivables.

  • Maintain oversight of Accounts Receivable (AR) and Cash in Bank schedules.

  • Supervise cancellations, post reserve statements, and process chargebacks.

  • Fulfill the statutory obligation of filing 8300 forms with the IRS.

  • Execute the posting and reconciliation of holdback and all incentive/rebate monies.

  • Post non-parts factory invoices on factory statements and coordinate the factory trade reconciliation with Accounts Payable (AP).

  • Manage loaner payoffs and meticulously reconcile Factory Parts Inventory.

  • Provide statistical data for specific manufacturers and handle AR aging for month-end.

  • Document all pertinent notes in Sparks for month-end records.

  • Facilitate the archiv e and closure of accounting processes.

  • Conduct quarterly physical inventory reconciliations.

  • Maintain responsibility for comprehensive balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Oversee and manage all accounting schedules, whether personally or through appropriate delegation and oversight.

    Additional Qualifications:

  • Previous Automotive Accounting experience strongly preferred

  • Demonstrate unwavering integrity, a robust work ethic, and steadfast commitment.

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or Economics, or equivalent experience.

    Lithia Hiring Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • 18 years or older

  • Possess an acceptable driving record and valid driver’s license in state of residence

  • A criminal history background check will be conducted prior to beginning employment
