Cleveland Clinic Community Pharmacy Technician/Pharmacy Technician Ambulatory (Outpatient) in Avon, Ohio

As an Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician, you play an essential role in keeping patients safe and comfortable during their outpatient experience. Your ability to work efficiently and pay close attention to detail helps facilitate a positive, streamlined patient experience.
The ideal future caregiver is someone who thrives in a fast-paced, busy environment. The pharmacy fills an average of 800 to 1,000 prescriptions each day, so you need to work efficiently and independently. A positive attitude and desire to collaborate with a team are must-haves. Previous outpatient or community pharmacy experience is preferred.
You'll receive guidance from pharmacists and other caregivers who are at the top of their fields. Broaden your skill set with advanced training in non-sterile compounding. Many of our Pharmacy Technicians advance into other roles within Cleveland Clinic, such as Lead Pharmacy Technicians.

A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation from 8:00am - 4:00pm and 12:00pm - 8:00pm in a 6 week rotation.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
A high school diploma or GED
Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)
Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee
Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months
Can perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Six months of hospital experience
