Ford Motor Company Paint Engineering Specialist, Controls in Avon Lake, Ohio

As part of our Paint Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In this position...

Use FIS Plant monitoring software to review cycle times, faults, Incident Rates, and other machine conditions for Paint Department application automation, review and follow up automation Kaizen and other projects and installations within the Paint Department.

What you'll do...

  • Troubleshoot painting application and sealer (PVC) application robots, effected PLC, and other automation problems

  • Update program backups for automation

  • Program new installations of Paint tooling and conveyor systems

  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements

  • Coordinate automation corrections, PM/AM Activities, and validate finish system pathwork.

  • Work overtime and weekends as needed

You'll have...

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2 or more years of paint manufacturing experience.

Even better, you may have...

  • Advanced degree in engineering

  • Strong problem-solving skills, including 8Ds, 4Ds, FMEAs, and DMAICs

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot Paint and Sealing application equipment for improvement of OEE, quality and delivery metrics

  • Fanuc robot programming, DevcieNet, RS Logics, PLC-5 and Microsoft Office experience

  • Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics

  • Strong understanding of Paint Application system programming delivery systems, in addition to networking understanding, DH+, Ethernet, and Pier to Pier communication.

  • Simulation modeling exposure for Paint Application Robots

  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience

  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience

  • TQM and Kaizen Methods

  • Creation of PM Activity records and routines

  • Training of Skilled Trades and Engineering Specialists for Paint System use and troubleshooting.

  • Visual Factory Management

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
