Aston Carter Cost Accountant in Avon, Connecticut

Job Title: Cost Accountant

Location: Avon, CT

Job Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Perform cost analysis, including manufacturing variances, purchase price variance, and inventory management.

  • Develop and analyze manufacturing cost standards.

  • Reconcile inventory and calculate reserves.

  • Analyze operational costs compared to plan.

  • Assist with month-end close responsibilities.

  • Handle fixed assets and capital investment requests.

  • Support the Tax Manager with Sales & Use Tax Audits.

  • Collaborate with external auditors during yearly audits.

  • Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and other functions.

  • Review and reconcile received not vouchered reports.

  • Conduct quarterly intercompany reconciliations.

  • Perform physical fixed asset counts.

  • Assist with various audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • 4-7 years of relevant Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong background in Cost Accounting.

  • Experience using an ERP system (JDEdwards preferred).

  • Thorough understanding of the manufacturing process and related functions (purchasing/receiving, order entry/shipping).

  • Comfortable with closing the books, cost accounting, fixed assets, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entry posting.

  • Understanding of AP/AR desired.

  • Excellent attention to detail.
