Robert Half VP/Director of Finance in Austin, Texas

Description We are offering an opportunity for a detail-oriented VP/Director of Finance based in Austin, Texas. The individual will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the department, ensuring compliance with all established standards and procedures. The role includes assessing risk characteristics, managing staffing levels, and developing strong relationships with internal brokers. This position also requires technical expertise in underwriting and familiarity with the health insurance industry.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operation of the department to maintain compliance with all established standards and procedures

• Conduct data analysis of key indicators to determine acceptability for new and renewal business

• Collaborate with the Claims and Data team to understand adverse development, emerging issues, and effective strategies

• Apply technical expertise to underwriting guidelines, standards, and regulatory requirements

• Ensure underwriting and company policies are maintained and updated to reflect changing rules and procedures

• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal brokers to ensure effective communication across all departments

• Provide leadership and direction to underwriting staff in alignment with the company's mission and culture

• Monitor work standards to manage staffing levels effectively

• Manage budget responsibilities for the department

• Develop and oversee a peer review program to ensure compliance with all established standards and procedures

• Perform management activities including performance management, staff development, and training. Requirements • Must hold a VP/Director of Finance position or equivalent for 10+ years

• Proficiency in 3M

• Experience with Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services

• CapEx knowledge

• CRM expertise

• Understanding of Accounting Functions

• Auditing skills

• Experience with Budget Processes

• Knowledge in Capital Management

• Ability to perform Cash Flow Analysis

• FHA Underwriting skills

• Technical underwriting experience

• Underwriting knowledge

• Experience in Health Care

• Understanding of Health Insurance Coverage

• Knowledge of Health Insurance Industry

• Experience with HealthCare Insurance

• Familiarity with Health Insurance

• Knowledge of Insurance (Dental)

• Experience with Insurance (Disability)

• Familiarity with Insurance Companies

• Experience working with Insurance Company
