Responsibilities include management of state park trails improvement program, including planning and developing state park trail construction projects and developing other implementation and financing strategies to improve recreational trail facilities in state parks. Responsible for activities pertaining to Recreational Trail Grant program administration including application review, inspections, project prioritization, agenda item preparation, contracting, correspondence, project monitoring, preparation of special projects and presentations as necessary. Provides technical assistance and trails and grant training to state and local government agencies, trail organizations and other recreational trail providers. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs related duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree. Experience: Two years experience in trail design, layout, construction, and maintenance; Two years experience in park and recreation planning, construction management, or grant management. NOTE: Experience can be done concurrently. Licensure: Applicant must possess a valid State drivers license. NOTE: Retention of position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license. ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS: Education: One additional year of experience in trail design, construction and maintenance, park and recreation planning, construction management, or grant management may substitute for 30 hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours.
