The Amazon Business team is looking for candidates who are passionate about delivering an amazing experience to our international business customers. We focus on merging the customer experience, selection, pricing, and convenience that consumers have come to expect and love from Amazon with the features and functionality required by our business customers.

Great candidates for this position possess a sound understanding of computer science and a passion to make a profound impact for our international business customers. We need a Systems Development Engineer to help design, develop, and support our complex infrastructure environment and automate manual processes. In this role you will assist on larger projects or run smaller opportunities solo. The ideal candidate possesses extensive technical knowledge and practical experience with DevOps tools and practices. The Systems Development Engineer is willing to get hands-on in designing and coding modules for infrastructure, application, and processes. This role will provide exposure to Amazon Business Approvals tech stack that affects both external and internal customer experience. The right candidate will identify and resolve issues, automate processes, maintain service infrastructure, and work closely with cross departmental teams to achieve business goals while ensuring platform security and reliability.

The team's mission is to provide our customers with simple, yet flexible solutions that streamline procurement from requisition to payment, while supporting, managing, and enforcing spend control policies for responsible and compliant acquisition of goods and services. Key goals include eliminating rogue spend, delivering world-class procurement oversight functionalities, developing robust Approvals-based control mechanisms, owning and enhancing the Amazon Business Approvals product, and providing the Approvals Framework infrastructure to enable tailored approval workflows. Through these objectives, we empower our customers to achieve their procurement goals.

Key job responsibilities

• Experience taking a significant role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customers

• Support application end users as a creative problem solver with a passion for innovation and customer experience

• Read and understand complex application code to enhance or implement fixes to existing applications based on business needs

• Recognize opportunities for optimizations, efficiencies or scaling

• Perform vulnerability remediation and application patching

• Manage technical projects with high attention to detail

• Improves service resilience and performance of applications and services

• Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
