What does a Senior Cloud Engineer do?

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be a part of a growing team of hardworking people responsible for creating and maintaining a suite of cutting edge back-of-house web applications, point-of-sale APIs, and cloud services for an exciting market. An exceptional Senior Cloud Engineer merges wisdom in the field of back-end development with a teaching mindset and an understanding of the constraints and needs of the business to elevate the quality of the output of the entire team over time. They lead by example, prioritize quality, and help define the long-term architecture for the full suite of web applications. This Cloud Engineer position is Ruby on Rails focused and this Engineer will help maintain, improve, and upgrade our current Rails services.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and innovate in back-of-house web applications, POS APIs, and cloud services development.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot technical issues for desktop and mobile environments.

  • Collaborate across teams to build and improve quality products.

  • Mentor peers, review code, and share knowledge.

  • Drive product testing through writing automation and tests.

  • Engage in after-hours on-call incident management.

What You Will Need To Have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years in software development, with a focus on Ruby on Rails.

  • Proficiency in microservices, e-commerce platforms, and high-volume systems.

  • Solid experience in relational database design & modeling.

  • 5+ years in AWS services or other cloud platforms.

  • Strong skills in object-oriented programming, software patterns, and coding techniques.

What Would Be Great To Have:

  • Ruby and Ruby on Rails expertise.

  • Microservices architecture experience.

  • REST API design knowledge.

  • IT environment familiarity, including networking, servers, and security.
