Amergis Speech Language Pathologist - Hybrid - Part-Time - Austin Area in Austin, Texas

Duration: 13 weeks to start (extension highlylikely if contractor is a good fit)

Edu/licensure requirements:

Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy from an accredited college oruniversity.

Current licensure to practice speech therapy in Texas.

Valid Texas driver’s license.

Must have at least 2 years of SLP experience.

Experience in ECI specifically strongly preferred but not required

Bilingual strongly preferred but not required but not required

Coaching Model experience strongly preferred but not required

Population:

Early Childhood Intervention (ECI ages 0-3).

They provide a coaching model vs a clinical model. Coaching will be done withthe parents vs providing clinical support to the child.

Schedule:

20-22.5 hours per week (not guaranteed)

No weekends or on call required

Monday-Friday (mostly within hours of 8a-5p, but some sessions may be scheduledafter 5p or run past 5 - rare)

Areas of coverage:

1 Therapist: Leander/Liberty Hill/Burnet area

1 Therapist: Hutto/Taylor area

1 Therapist: Caldwell/Bastrop County (closer to Austin, near Cedar Creek &Dale area)

Setting:

Some telehealth, some in person.

If family is okay with virtual sessions, then remote is acceptable.

If a family requests in person services, SLP MUST COMPLY & PROVIDE INPERSON SERVICES. In person services are usually completed in patient home, butcould be done in one the BBT community centers if the family prefers (rare).

Session/Documentation info:

Sessions are in increments of 15 minutes.

Will either be 15, 30 or 60 minutes.

They require collaborative documentation with family, meaning documentationshould be done throughout the duration of the session and completed prior toending session with family.

Required to have all documentation submitted in the EHR system within 24 hoursof session

The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for theimplementation of speech/language pathology services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs assessment(s) of patient’s communication,oral-motor integrity, cognitive status, memory and problem-solving abilities,hearing and speech fluency and quality

  • Assesses home environment (as appropriate) and identifiesequipment needs relative to speech/language function

  • Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a planof care in coordination with the physician to address speech, language, hearingand other functional disorders

  • Administers speech therapy program utilizing specializedtherapeutic techniques and/or equipment

  • Instructs patient, caregiver, and other members of thehealth team regarding their roles in speech therapy

  • Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated

  • Recommends hearing tests by audiologist as necessary

  • Prepares and submits clinical progress summary notes basedon the attainment of goals

  • Instructs patient, family/caregiver, and other health carepersonnel in the patient’s treatment regime as indicated

  • Performs other duties as required to facilitate the deliveryof speech language pathology services

  • Identifies patient and family/caregiver needs for other services,and refers as appropriate

  • Complies with accepted professional standards and practices,and maintains clinical competency in speech language pathology practice andtheory

  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Meets the education and experience requirements for aCertificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology

  • Must hold a degree from an accredited school ofSpeech-Language Pathology?

  • Current licensure or certification as a Speech LanguagePathologist in the state of assignment?

  • One year of prior professional Speech Language Pathologyexperience preferred?

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
