Wolters Kluwer Senior Technology Project & Program Manager - (Sr. Product Owner) in Austin, Texas

OVERVIEW

The Wolters Kluwer Medical Education & Medical Practice (MEMP) team seeks a detail-oriented Senior Product Owner (PO) to guide the discovery and platform strategy for building out institutional products leveraging WK shared services. The ideal Senior PO possesses knowledge and experience working on Counter-compliant reporting; institutional customer identity and access management, including authentication models such as OpenAthens, Shibboleth, EZ Proxy, SSO; and Google Analytics dashboards. This role collaborates with Product Managers, software engineering, another PO, and the UX team on discovery and documentation to develop solutions that are efficient and solve customer problems confirmed based on insights from analytics, user testing and interviews. In addition, candidates must possess the ability to explore and interpret a variety internal toolsets and document internal workflows as well as customer workflows and extract findings into requirements for developing a new platform. A successful candidate for this role will demonstrate strong analytical skills, listening and communication skills, excellent user story mapping and customer workflow documentation ability, and a passion for analytics, customer insights, and solving problems for the end user, whether internal or external.

LOCATION: Hybrid (Eastern or Central Time Zone)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior PO’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Working on discovery to optimize and enhance capabilities on Lippincott Clinical Context platform leveraging WK shared services.

  • Formulating and engaging in plans to gather and synthesize end user insights, in collaboration with Product Managers, to better define customer behaviors, workflows, usability or improve understanding of current functionality and how it might be optimized.

  • Conducting usability testing on existing solutions to determine opportunities for improvement and enhancement.

  • Facilitating user story mapping to ensure shared understanding and determine “slices” of functionality to prioritize prior to crafting formal user stories with acceptance criteria in JIRA.

  • Taking point on MEMP Google Analytics strategy (in collaboration with other POs and PMs) to ensure consistent dashboards that enable data-driven decision-making

  • Leading analysis related to institutional customer reporting strategy in collaboration with shared services teams

  • Writing/reviewing requirements for new development (features/functionality) and detailed acceptance criteria, coordinating with other team members on requirements for shared functionality.

  • Conducting experiments to test potential solutions with customers and end users in collaboration with Product Managers, UX, and Marketing.

  • Ensuring product excellence by designing and completing robust acceptance testing plans aligned with acceptance criteria and proactively communicating status.

  • Advocating for standards (accessibility, security, Counter, mobile, inter-operability, and discoverability) and proactively communicating gaps/risks with current software.

  • Contributing to effective product launch by supporting Product Manager, Marketing, Customer Success with documentation (including user guides, FAQs, etc.) and contributing to downstream GTM materials (customer support training, release notes, etc.) for releases.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field or equivalent experience

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years experience as digital product owner or technical product manager or other digital product development role for information/education products

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with history of building collaborative working relationships

  • User story and workflow mapping skills with ability to create documentation for existing products

  • Experience with Agile Scrum Ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Review and Retrospectives; Product Backlog Prioritization, Product Backlog Refinement, Product Backlog Estimating; daily huddles.

  • Strong communication and project management skills, establishing schedules, meeting deadlines, and communicating risks and progress with clear and consistent updates in meetings and summaries to all key stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:

  • Using JIRA and Confluence

  • Implementing lean methodologies

  • Conducting lean experiments, usability testing and synthesizing user feedback.

  • Working on Health Education products

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner a plus

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 5-10% Travel for company meetings, conferences, customer visits and team activities

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, HI, NY, WA: $112,000-$156,650
