UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Research Scientist, Nuclear Engineering Teaching Lab in AUSTIN, Texas
Lead and perform sponsored research activities including proposal development and preparation, conduct of research, and report writing. Interact directly with program managers and sponsors to acquire new and continuing sources of external research funding.Perform research using the UT-NETL Prompt Gamma-ray Activation Analysis (PGAA) system. This includes utilizing the system to characterize the elemental content of samples, measure nuclear data, and study slow neutron reactions and high energy gamma-ray detection.Perform research using the UT-NETL Gamma-ray Spectroscopy systems to characterize nuclear materials at the UT-NETL.Work with NETL faculty, staff, and students to develop technologies and data in support of the UT-NETL digital twin system.Publish research results in journals and conference proceedings to forward the state of knowledge in nuclear science, nuclear physics, and radiation detection to raise the visibility of research at the UT-NETL.Provide advice to the UT-NETL operational staff and UT-NETL Director on the effective conduct of research at the UT-NETL. Other duties as assigned.
