Amazon Product Manager - Tech, NASC Engineering in Austin, Texas

Looking for your next challenge? North America Sort Centers (NASC) are experiencing growth and looking for a skilled, highly motivated Technical Product Manager to join the NASC Engineering Product, Analytics and Simulation Team.

The Sort Center network is the critical Middle-Mile solution in the Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) group, linking Fulfillment Centers to the Last Mile. The experience of our customers is dependent on our ability to efficiently execute volume flow through the middle-mile network.

Our ideal candidate will have launched multiple, impactful products, have demonstrated the ability to lead high-performance teams, and have a deep understanding of product management, user experience, product development processes, and data science. You should be highly analytical, adept at leveraging data to drive decision-making, able to work effectively across teams, and thrive in entrepreneurial, fast-paced work environments.

Key job responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead product strategy and vision supported by internal data and external analysis, incorporating data science methodologies.

  • Define creative, high quality, simple product requirements and roadmaps based on product strategy and data-driven insights.

  • Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance, and operational support requirements, using data to inform decisions.

  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key partners, presenting data-backed justifications.

  • Work closely with engineering, data science, and partner teams to deliver a successful product, ensuring the integration of data science solutions.

  • Collaborate with Amazon partner tech teams to ensure product re-usability, avoid redundancies, and optimize data pipelines.

  • Measure and analyze existing products and business models for opportunities to innovate and improve, utilizing data science techniques to provide additional benefits to developers and customers.

  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals, using predictive analytics and data-driven foresight.

  • Manage both upwards and downwards communications effectively, presenting complex data findings in a clear and actionable manner.

About the team

NASC Engineering’s Product and Analytics Team’s sole objective is to develop tools for under the roof simulation and optimization, supporting the needs of our internal and external stakeholders (i.e Process Design Engineering, NASC Engineering, ACES, Finance, Safety and Operations). We develop products and tools to evaluate what-if design and operations scenarios for new and existing sort centers to understand their robustness, stability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. We conceptualize new data science solutions, using optimization and machine learning platforms, to analyze new and existing process, identify and reduce non-value added steps, and increase overall performance and rate. We work by interfacing with various functional teams to test and pilot new hardware/software solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, operations research, business analytics, information systems or equivalent

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience managing technical products or online services

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
