Amazon Mobile Security Manager, MobileSec in Austin, Texas

Your mission is to empower a team of highly skilled Mobile Security Engineers to secure the mobile experience of hundreds of millions of our customers. As a Mobile Security Manager, you will lead a highly skilled team of Mobile Security Engineers, dedicated to enhancing our mobile application security portfolio. Your role includes strategic oversight in annual planning and extensive collaboration with partner organizations across Amazon, including AWS. You will help drive the direction for mobile security research, automation, reviews, and consultations. Your leadership will ensure that our mobile applications consistently meet the highest standards of security, leveraging cross-departmental synergies to innovate and safeguard our customer experiences.

Key job responsibilities

  • You will lead, manage, and develop a team of Mobile Security Engineers and Technical Program Managers who are responsible for securing all of Amazon’s mobile applications.

  • You will set the direction for the team by driving strategic initiatives, influencing leadership, key stakeholders, and partnering with teams across Amazon.

  • You will develop a healthy and collaborative culture, enabling the team to deliver impactful results.

  • You will foster effective teamwork, communication, and collaboration across multiple groups with competing priorities, ensuring alignment and commitment.

  • You will implement improvements to internal programs and processes, enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Mobile Security team.

  • You will write and deliver high-quality documentation that is accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • You will drive the adoption of mobile security processes, automation, and tooling to improve the operational efficiency and effectiveness of mobile security practices.

The MobileSec team is tasked with empowering the business to create secure, trustworthy mobile applications that our customers find delightful to use. We engage closely with the business from the outset of the development process to ensure that security considerations are integrated early and consistently. This collaborative approach positions us as partners with the business, minimizing the need for security trade-offs. Our close work with product teams allows us to participate in deep technical discussions and decisions. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading, managing, and developing high-performance teams.

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience within a software security team or a similar operating environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical understanding of the OWASP Mobile Security standards.

  • Experience reading and writing code in at least one programming language, including Java, Kotlin, Objective C, or Swift.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: mobile application security, mobile application development, or mobile penetration testing.

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate technically complex issues into simple, easy-to-understand concepts.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
