JOB NUMBER: 24-004-1905 CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled STARTING SALARY RANGE: $40,539- $45,607 annually, plus excellent benefits POSITION TITLE: Legal Secretary - Compliance DEPARTMENT: Chief Disciplinary Counsel - Austin, TX

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provides a variety of legal and administrative support services to the Chief Disciplinary Counsels office. This position involves frequent contact with other departments of the State Bar, its members, and the public.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works with the statewide Compliance Program, the Grievance Referral Program Administrators, and the Chief Disciplinary Counsels Executive Assistant.
  2. Assists with the review and maintenance of compliance and disciplinary case files, including the timely data entry of information in case tracking database.
  3. Drafts, prepares, and edits correspondence.
  4. Compiles information and prepares reports related to attorney compliance and disciplinary matters.
  5. Responds to oral and written requests; searches databases and provides information that is appropriate for release to the public.
  6. Responsible for copying and mailing correspondence, both internal and external to the organization.
  7. Conducts special projects and performs other responsibilities as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college-level courses preferred. Three years experience in administrative office work in a legal environment preferred. Requires exceptional interpersonal and business communication skills. Must possess superior accuracy, proofreading and organizational skills, individual initiative, sound judgment, handle multiple tasks and provide excellent customer service. Ability to problem-solve and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner. Requires technological competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro, Zoom, Teams, and Outlook Express. Experience using case management software preferred. Requires valid drivers license. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule for remote work and in office at the discretion of the employer.
