Google Head of Customer Engineering, Google Cloud in Austin, Texas

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 12 years of experience in product management, pre-sales engineering, or technology consulting roles.

  • 5 years of experience managing and developing managers.

  • 1 year of experience developing sales strategies to lead a team in the Small and Medium Business (SMB) segment.

  • Experience with public cloud solutions across Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) markets.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a Business Director/Manager who has led Sales Engineering managers and engineers.

  • Experience with software lifecycle, build tools, and architecting/developing software for scalable, distributed systems.

  • Experience in the digital industry and sub regional knowledge.

  • Understanding, curiosity, and passion for the small and medium business landscape.

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

You listen and deliver what is most helpful for the customer. You assist fellow sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for our customers. You liaise with the product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products.

As a Head of Customer Engineering for the Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) segment, you will lead a team of Customer Engineering managers as well as Customer Engineers. The team will engage with business prospects, discover and assess customer requirements, prepare and present demonstrations of Google’s Cloud services, address and overcome technical objections that arise throughout the business process, become trusted advisors, and drive strategic technical strategies and solutions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $195,000-$278,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Partner with Google Cloud business leadership to define the go-to-market strategy for industries. Identify, qualify, and prioritize coverage for opportunities.

  • Participate in opportunity review meetings, and provide insight into how to best secure the technical opportunity.

  • Collaborate with business and customer engineering leadership to prepare a strategy/execution plan for the go-to-market approach. Determine staffing levels to support long and short-term business goals and team growth.

  • Promote Google Cloud across industries and provide thought-leadership related to transformation, technology, cloud computing, and relevant industry trends.

  • Lead customer engineering managers in the micro-region, organize, equip and assess the team's go-to-market readiness, and build plans to ensure the team is properly trained and equipped to successfully perform in support of the business goals. Work to resolve product problems affecting customer satisfaction.
