At BAE Systems we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Test Engineer to join our team. As a Test Engineer in this position, the candidate would support the Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) area of our factory which includes thermal stress screening, vibration screening, and functional testing of complex electro-mechanical assemblies. The candidate must demonstrate strong technical aptitude, communication skills, and be able to work cross-functionally within the operations organization and with other discipline/functions.

This position includes the following activities:

  • Perform Thermal Surveys and Vibration Surveys.

  • Support the test and troubleshooting of complex electronic systems and sub-assemblies, working directly with hardware and design engineering personnel as required.

  • Generate and review the technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation.

  • Provide training and support to manufacturing personnel.

  • Monitor Quality data for trends and outliers and report regularly to the team.

  • Generate and implement improvements in test design and develop methodologies to reduce cost, increase yield, and improve throughput.

  • Manage capital projects for test equipment.

  • Create rework plans for test non-conformances.

  • Interface with Engineering, Quality, and other supporting functions to drive defect resolution to root cause. Interface with governmental customers, auditors, and suppliers as required.

  • Feedback lessons learned to the design teams for continuous improvement.

  • Identify, Create, and Implement Engineering Change Orders on products as required.

  • Support relocation of test equipment between manufacturing sites and lead transition to production.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS Engineering Degree (Electrical or Mechanical) and 4 years work experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years experience working in an Environmental Test area (thermal cycling and vibration).

  • Experience Troubleshooting / Debugging environmental test failures and functional test failures.

  • Experience using metrics and data to drive actions.

  • Proven track record of solving complicated production issues and/or driving yield improvements.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • BS Engineering Degree (Electrical or Mechanical) and 6 years work experience

  • Lean Manufacturing

  • Troubleshooting electronic circuits or mechanical assemblies

  • Performs Preliminary Material Review/Material Review Board (PMR/MRB) for the disposition of discrepant material

  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)

  • Data Collection and Analysis

  • Root Cause and Corrective Action methodology

  • IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620 / J-STD-001

  • Development of software tools

  • BAE Paperless MES (Manufacturing Execution System) experience

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $112420 - $191070

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
