Job/Position DescriptionPerforms highly complex (senior-level) database administration work. Work involves planning, designing, developing, maintaining, and monitoring integrated database systems; evaluating and reviewing database policies and procedures; and maintaining data integrity, security, and accessibility of the agency's data. Coordinates with service providers and application groups to install new versions, new enhancements and newly released databases to HHSC database system. Monitors applications for space utilization on test, development, and production environments. Works with service provider Systems Group, Production Control Group, and Mainframe Database Group to set up production jobs, schedule jobs, monitor jobs, and performance tune the jobs that run with specific job schedulers in the Health and Human Services (HHSC) database environments. Monitors database performance and adjusts as required to maximize efficiency. Archives, restores, and recovers databases as required. The position will have primary responsibility for analyzing the business needs of the Office of Data Analytics and Performance (ODAP) related to data in the Texas Integrated Eligibility Redesign System (TIERS), Quality Assurance and Improvement (QAI) Data Mart, and Office of Data Analytics and Performance Data Repository (ODAP DR) and perform data extractions. Work involves the transformation of research and reporting requirements into data system designs to provide for effective and efficient data file processing, data uploads, and retrieval in both Oracle and SQL Servers to meet the data needs of the ODAP. Prepares accurate and concise reports in a timely manner. Performs quality assurance tasks to ensure the accuracy of distributed reports. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Essential Job FunctionsEJF. 1 Analyzes, designs, plans and performs database upgrades and maintenance. Coordinates with service providers and application groups to install new versions, new enhancements, and newly released databases to HHSC data systems. Maintains system vulnerability, risk assessment, and security logs and works with IT vendors to resolve security and compliance issues.EJF 2. Coordinates with application development and support teams to ensure their needs are met from a database perspective. Participates in the planning, design, administration, operation, monitoring, maintenance, and user management related ODAP data assets. Develops and maintains system security plans to ensure data integrity. EJF 3. Consults and coordinates with the Office of Data Analytics and Performance (ODAP) program areas to identify business needs related to data housed within the HHSC data assets. Acquires, extracts, transforms and loads data into HHSC applications and database systems. Retrieves data from HHSC applications and data assets to fulfill reporting needs of program areas within HHSC and ODAP.EHF 4: Participates in DM unitand#146;s cross-training activities and inter-agency work group activities including data quality control analyses, periodic data quality assessments, and data-related continuous quality improvement tasks. Identifies areas for learning and participates in training programs available to HHSC and DAP staff members. Identifies and incorporates innovative solutions to streamline workflows and automation of ETL processes.
