Job/Position DescriptionUnder general supervision of the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention (HPCDP) section director, this position provides oversight on developing and reviewing informational and educational products and materials, reviews various documents, web content, social media posts, and program resources. Collaborates and coordinates across programs within the HPCDP section on the development/revision and dissemination of information and publications for electronic or hard copy of program communication materials to the general public and funding agencies. This position manages a team of Information Specialists within the HPCDP section and may lead and/or assist projects at the Community Improvement (CHI) Division and agency level as appropriate. Represents HPCDP section on communication related materials, processes, and tasks, including HPCDP section marketing campaigns. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of professional staff members. Acts as IT liaison for the section assisting in renewing or acquiring software, monitoring IT projects, and answering questions about DSHS IT processes. Works collaboratively with Community Health Improvement Division communications lead, IT liaison, and DSHS Communications office. Assists the section director with drafting materials and presentations as needed. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. To perform these job duties, this position may require working extra hours needed to meet defined deadlines and support the agencyand#146;s mission critical reporting requirements.Essential Job Functions(30%) Performs managerial duties, such as hiring, interviewing, maintaining annual performance evaluation and approving time and leave. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of Information Specialists in the section. Oversees development, revision, and dissemination of information and publications for print and web delivery, including technical reports, newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, news releases, PowerPoint presentations, posters and other materials. Coordinates development and revision of HPCDP section's training, orientation and operations manuals, strategic planning documents, and standard operating procedures. Markets program initiatives and best practices to appropriate partners and stakeholders, including health care professionals. Oversees informational and educational system processes and product outcomes in coordination with schedules, priorities, and performance standards set forth by the HPCDP Section Director and branch managers. Oversees and assures accessibility for HPCDP reports, documents and various publications. Works with printing services to print materials needed by the HPCDP programs. Assures all HPCDP programs are efficiently supported for their Communication related needs. (30%) Supervises, trains, and provides assistance to HPCDPand#146;s Information Specialists and other staff on appropriate use of educational, outreach, and social media and public awareness or marketing campaigns. Leads and trains Information Specialists on accessibility requirements of DSHS. Initiates and oversees the development of radio and television media, web sites, social media posts, program exhibits, and communication tools. Ensures appropriateness for target audiences. Provides technical assistance in the media solicitation process, on-going monitoring, and evaluation of marketing agencies as needed.
