Attends job-related training. Identifies and informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies as related to equipment or personnel. Corrects deficiencies as required. May be required to perform safety audits and inspections. May be required to train other personnel in safety and job-related categories. Accuracy in all phases of work performed. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Read and adhere to specific written and verbal maintenance manuals, instructions, procedures, and applicable codes. Review and update manuals, check sheets, and procedures with best practice information. Follow all University and Utilities safety policies. Drive UT vehicle. Maintain acceptable driving records as required by UT System Policy UTS157.Installs or repairs refrigerant, electrical and water supply lines. Conserves, installs, and recycles CFC and HCFC from Chlorofluorocarbon family refrigerants. Installs or repairs Troubleshoots electrical connections to chiller components. Use multi-meters and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot. Required to obtain and maintain Universal Certification (Section 608) for refrigerant handling.Maintains accurate reports of maintenance work completed. Must be able to read, interpret, and update equipment and system drawings, manuals, and blueprints. Must be proficient in use of personal computer, including MS Office Word, Excel, etc. Maintain refrigerant inventory records. Assists in maintaining inventory of spare parts, and preparing purchase requisitions for spare parts and maintenance materials.Operate cranes, forklifts, and personnel lifts. Inspect, erect, utilize, and break down scaffolding as necessary in support of plant maintenance and operational duties. Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas.Performs detailed inspections of electrical centrifugal chillers and analyzes historical data for chiller operation to determine that the chiller is operating properly.Performs detailed periodic inspections of major equipment associated with the chillers and systems. Identifies, reports, and corrects safety hazards as required.Performs troubleshooting, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on chilling station equipment or systems in accordance with established operational and safety procedures. Work in conjunction with other trades or utility personnel in support of plant and distribution systems.Follow all University and UEM safety policies and procedures, take required safety training, and identify and report safety hazards. Perform work tasks in a safe manner, wear the proper personal protective equipment, and report near misses and incidents. Abide by Utilities and Energy Management's set of core values: Safety, Respect, Integrity, Reliability, Teamwork, and Excellence. Performs other related functions as assigned. Attends staff meetings, safety training or meetings, and plant operation and maintenance training courses. Completion of training certification expected within 18 months. Required to carry University cell phone during work and on-call hours. Expected to work at all UT Austin campuses and facilities.
