TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION BET Trainer (Austin) in Austin, Texas

TWC is looking for a Training Specialist IV to join the Business Enterprises of Texas (BET) Program located at 4800 N. Lamar, Austin, TX.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: The BET Training Specialist IV will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs in food service and vending operations to blind and visually impaired adults. This role involves creating accessible training materials, conducting hands-on training sessions, and providing ongoing support to ensure successful skill acquisition and job placement. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment. Training Specialist IV also performs highly complex (senior-level) professional organizational and policy analysis work. This role involves conducting organizational studies and evaluations, analyzing systems and procedures, and preparing operations and procedures manuals to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO: -Develop and implement training programs tailored to the needs of blind and visually impaired adults in food service operations. -Conduct hands-on training sessions covering various aspects of food service operations, such as food preparation, safety, sanitation, and customer service. -Assess trainees progress and provide individualized feedback and support. -Create accessible training materials, including Braille, and large print. -Collaborate with vocational rehabilitation counselors and other staff to ensure comprehensive support for trainees. -Stay updated on best practices and advancements in training methods and food service operations. -Maintain accurate records of training activities and trainee progress. -Collect and analyze data in areas such as operational, business, and managerial practices. -Monitor and review current organizational, procedural, and operational systems for effectiveness and efficiency. -Consult with management to initiate studies, identify priorities, and define study scope, purpose, objectives, time frames, and resource requirements. -Research historical, current, and projected data to identify problems and areas for procedural or system changes. -Prepare comprehensive technical records and reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations. -Analyses new or proposed legislation or regulations to determine their effect on program operations and management. -Participate in the design and layout of food service facilities. -Maintain information in the database application. -Performs other duties as assigned.
YOU QUALIFY WITH: -Three years of experience in positions that provided knowledge of training methods, techniques, and materials as related to individual development, education, and training programs; or in positions that provided knowledge of agency operation or programs which included giving group presentations. -Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH: -Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or equivalent experience. -3 years experience in food service operations and training. -Patience, empathy, and a commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities. -Ability to create and adapt training materials for accessibility. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Experience in organizational analysis, policy analysis, or a related field. -Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Duty involves up to 25% travel within the state of Texas and the ability to lift 30 pounds.
