Job Overview

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist and following established policies and procedures, performs a variety of technical procedures to support hospital inpatient or outpatient pharmacy operations.The Pharmacy Technician Senior also teaches and trains Pharmacy Technician Associates, Pharmacy Technicians, interns, and students and participates in safety and quality improvement projects.Assists with development of departmental policies, procedures, and training program materials.

Department Name: Pharmacy Job Status: 40 hours per week, eligible for benefits Shift: Days/evenings (not a set schedule) and rotating weekends and holiday commitments. Shift Times: 5:00am-1:30pm, 6:00am-2:30pm, 2:00pm-10:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm Weekend Requirement: One (1) weekend/month (every 4th weekend), rotation determined by business need and training. Holiday Requirement: Two (2) major holidays/year.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - High School Diploma or Equivalent EXPERIENCE -Three (3) years of pharmacy technician experience EQUIVALENCY - Completion of pharmacy technician program may substitute for one (1) year of the experience requirement. CERTIFICATION(S) - State of Colorado Pharmacy Technician (PHAT) Certification Certificate through a nationally recognized certification board or body approved by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcare Association (NHA) Inpatient: Sterile Compounding Certificate and one (1) additional certificate: Hazardous Medication certificate OR Medication History Certificate OR Billing and Reimbursement Certificate OR Controlled Substances Diversion Prevention Certificate OR Hazardous Drug Management Certificate OR Supply Chain and Inventory Management OR Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician Certificate

Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Prepares unit-dose (inpatient only) nonhazardous and hazardous medications and drug supplies for dispensing as directed by a licensed pharmacist.
