Job Summary and Qualifications

This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the safe, effective, and cost-effective use of drugs through the application of specialized knowledge, skills and professional judgment. The Pharmacy Manager shall perform drug packaging, patient billing, all aspects of drug compounding and distribution, shall provide drug information and clinical service to all health professionals and patients, and monitors all aspects of drug therapy in the facility. The Pharmacy Manager supervises pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and interns, and all other pharmacy employees. The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of staff education and development and departmental clinical activities. The Pharmacy Manager will also serve in a supervisory capacity, supervising all employees of the department. Hiring, termination, and annual evaluations of employees will be undertaken as directed by the Pharmacy Director. The Pharmacy Manager will also ensure adequate staffing levels, adequate inventory, and inventory control measures. The Pharmacy Manager actively promotes exceptional customer service. The Pharmacy Manager will serve on Hospital Committees as directed and requested and represent the Pharmacy Department accordingly. She/He will assume responsibility for the Pharmacy Department when the Pharmacy Director is absent. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current licensure by the Colorado Board of Pharmacy as a licensed Pharmacist.

  • BCLS and ACLS certifications from AHA or ARC required.

  • BS Pharmacy or Pharm D. MS or MBA preferred.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, computer skills are a must. Demonstrated skills commensurate with formal training.
