Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities

All Levels:

  • Update all faculty sponsor program accounts monthly and conduct update meetings with funded faculty.

  • On behalf of faculty researchers, serves as liaison to outside funding agencies.

  • Ensures all proposed sub-awards, subcontracts, and other forms of sub-agreements for assigned applications are properly documented through authorized parties.

  • Works collaboratively with the PIs, and the Division Administrator to ensure an accurate, current, record keeping of all extramural research activities of faculty.

  • Collaborates with OGC Accounting, subcontractors, and external agencies, regarding paying invoices, requesting no-cost extensions, establishing subcontracts, and assisting with progress reports.

  • Reviews and interprets the sponsor's requirements with faculty to ensure compliance with appropriate Federal, State, Board of Regents, OGC and university policies and regulations.

  • Liaise with faculty and Pre-Award Core as needed on Pre-Award submission process and electronic applications including PDF conversions, bio sketches, enrollment tables, human subjects, and resource information.

  • Ensure all proposed sub-awards, subcontracts, and other forms of sub-agreements for assigned applications are properly documented through authorized parties and manage the disbursement of subcontract funds.

  • Working closely with Division Administrator to assist with routine audits of payroll as well as other laboratory expense transactions for research faculty, fellows, and staff to ensure expenses are properly calculated and encumbered on their appropriate accounts.

  • Monitor and ensure departmental compliance with Federal regulations and the new Uniform Guidance (replacing A­21, A­110, and A­133 OMB circulars) for administrative, accounting, and audit requirements. This includes providing guidance to divisional faculty, administrators, and staff on research related organizational policies and procedures, including effort reporting.

  • Maintain electronic file repository of Divisional grant/award information, and research protocols.

  • Procurement of research-related supplies/equipment or services.

At the Program Manager Level:

  • Provide administrative and strategic guidance of the Division's program of research and serve as advisor to the Division Administrator, the Division Head and the Associate Division Head of Research.

  • Create tracking and projection reports to identify funding cliffs for divisional faculty and research staff.

  • Manage clinical trial funding sources to fund and optimize clinical trial program growth.

Minimum Qualifications

Senior Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Two (2) years of extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible experience, including direct responsibility in coordination, development, and administration of grants and contracts.

Principal Level:

  • A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Three (3) years of extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible experience, including direct responsibility in coordination, development, and administration of grants and contracts.

Program Manager:

  • A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Four (4) years of extensive, diverse, and progressively responsible experience, including direct responsibility in coordination, development, and administration of grants and contracts.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • CRA certification.

  • Experience working in the University of Colorado system or higher education environment.

  • Experience using OnCore to financially manage clinical trials.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience with post-award administration of grants and contracts.

  • Previous experience with project and budget management.

  • Experience with the research grant application and funded-grant processes, which includes knowledge of mechanisms and requirements of various research grant application processes.

  • Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in research administration, forecasting, and financial management and budgeting.

  • Ability to multi-task and remain detail oriented.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to achieve division sponsored project objectives.

  • Knowledge of the regulatory issues associated with the construction and submission of federal and private foundation grants (e.g., HIPAA and human subjects' protection, Office of Grants and Contracts, and university policies and procedures).

  • Proficient to advanced skills with various computer systems and software programs including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
