Position Description

Primary purpose: Provide a high level of technical support on a regional or system basis relating to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. Design and Maintain cathodic protection and internal corrosion control facilities. Conduct internal and external specialized corrosion tests on steel structures.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for all activities related to corrosion control and pipeline integrity which includes: Safe work practice and active participation in safety program Design, install, operate, and maintain cathodic protection facilities, power lines, galvanic anodes, and internal corrosion control facilities. Internal corrosion responsibilities include evaluating, developing and monitoring the internal corrosion control program. Atmospheric corrosion duties include performing coating evaluations and providing technical assistance to district operations. Gather and evaluate data, recommend, perform and oversee mitigative measures. Document all related work associated with performing and maintaining regulatory compliance and operating and maintenance procedures. Monitor the condition of the pipeline through pipe-to-soil potentials, rectifiers, bonds, visual inspection, examination of coupons, data from in-line tools, close interval surveys, etc... Monitor electrical isolation and identify points of electrical shorts. Conduct various tests, measurements, and surveys to ensure efficient operation of cathodic protection facilities. Lead efforts to design and implement effective long term cathodic protection systems. Prepares drawings, job specifications and contract bid documents. Assist E&C and Engineering personnel with the evaluation / development / implementation and maintenance of facility grounding systems. Identify report and correct safety and environmental concerns. Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork. Oversee the construction and/or work activities performed by 3 rd parties. Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements. Prepare all necessary documentation and participate in federal audits and inspections. Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence Respond to/address callouts and emergencies outside of regular business hours. Will be required to carry a company-provided cell phone, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours. Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself. Regular and predictable attendance. Help prepare and manage O&M and Capital budget Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Minimum requirements: Education: High School Diploma along with 1-3 years of pipeline experience.

Experience / specific knowledge: Understand and operate all corrosion related instrumentation Good record of safe work practices. Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects. Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems. Good understanding of Ohm's law and how it relates to corrosion control.

Certifications, licenses, registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record satisfactory to the Company and its insurers. Will be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties

Competencies, skills, and abilities: Proficient with computer software (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, company software, and corrosion control software (PCS Axis & T-Sims) Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals. Good verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor/manager(s), adhere to required work schedules (overtime and overnight stay as needed), focus attention on details and follow work rules Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time fra e. Ability to operate and maintain chemical injection and pressure access equipment. Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with corrosion systems. Detail-oriented. Customer focused. Ability to mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself. Ability to speak and understand English. Ability to work with others, take direction from supervisor/manager(s), focus attention on details, and follow work rules. Will be required to participate in a random DOT drug testing program. The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and complete a background check after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Physical demands: Physical ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in an awkward position and as much as 50 pound floor to waist. Ability to bend/stoop, kneel and climb stairs/ladders. Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion included.
