Job Overview

The Child Life Supervisor leads a team of front-line clinical support staff.The supervisor is responsible for hiring, coaching, mentoring, modeling best practices, and monitoring the performance of child life team members. Child life supervisors contribute to the operational decisions and tasks related to the child life department.The position provides oversight of patient care and manages patient flow for Child Life and is responsible for ensuring appropriate care is provided by child life staff.The child life supervisor provides some level of clinical support. Trained in the use of therapeutic play, recreation and educational techniques, our child life specialists guide children and teens throughout their treatment. These services are available to patients at Children's Colorado at no extra charge. As one of the largest and most innovative child life programs in the country, our Child Life Department is leading the way in improving the healthcare experience for kids through therapeutic play, connection, creativity, animal-assisted therapy, gaming and more. The Child Life Supervisor is responsible for leading, coaching, mentoring, modeling best practices, scheduling, managing Paid Time Off (PTO) and day-to-day performance for direct reports. The position provides oversight of patient care and manages patient flow for Child Life at CHCO, and is responsible for ensuring the best patient care possible is provided by child life staff. Department Name: Child Life Shift: M-F, 10:00am-6:30pm, may be subject to change depending on departmental needs

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related fields. Experience: Four (4) years previous experience in providing child life services in a healthcare setting. Equivalency: Master or higher degree in a related field may substitute for the experience requirements on a year for year basis. Certification(s): Current Child Life Professional Certification (CCLS)
