Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct patient care at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center providing pediatric and adult low vision evaluations

  • Responsible for direct patient care at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center (SAREC) and affiliate sites of practice specializing in low vision rehabilitation.

  • Prescribe eyeglasses, prisms (sector, Peli, full field, etc.), conventional and electronic magnification, and spectacle-mounted devices, including bioptic and telemicroscopic telescopes.

  • May prescribe and fit contact lenses.

  • Resident teaching, and basic or clinical applied research.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OD with approved residency training in low vision rehabilitation or 5 years' experience in providing rehabilitative care.

  • Previous work experience in an academic or hospital-based healthcare environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in low vision rehabilitation, including eye movement disorders.

  • Demonstrated interest in resident teaching

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full time (1.0 FTE) Assistant Professor to work as an optometrist in our growing academic ophthalmology practice at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center (SAREC). The position will provide outpatient low vision rehabilitative management of ophthalmic and neurologic/eye movement disorders, at SAREC and affiliate sites of practice within the Denver metropolitan area.

The Department of Ophthalmology is located in the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $115,000 to $160,000 The above salary range () represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
