JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position assists in data management for the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB). Responsibilities include creating, analyzing and maintaining data reports and overseeing information received through the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). This position can be headquarted across the state.

REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:

  • Manage profiles and electronic filings received by Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) trading partners using the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions (IAIABC) standard.

  • Gather and organize data from insurance carriers, claim administrators, the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), and WCB staff to resolve EDI submission issues.

  • Develop, maintain and distribute management reports.

  • Develop reports and analyze data to ensure compliance with WCB electronic data interchange (EDI) laws and rules, and to ensure proper system functioning.

  • Manage software and hardware needs for staff.

  • Develop and provide training for WCB applications and standard software to WCB staff.

  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and training materials.

  • Provide technical assistance to WCB staff.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of information management systems.

  • Knowledge of technical computer terms.

  • Knowledge of data collection and interpretation methods and techniques.

  • Ability to gather, assemble and analyze data to draw valid conclusions/recommend improvements.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both oral and written).

  • Advanced data analytical skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including, but not limited to, vertical lookup function and pivot tables.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Six (6) years of education, training, and/or experience analyzing, evaluating, and/or developing improvements to organizational and/or managerial systems, programs, and practices.
