MaineGeneral Health WIC Nutrition Educator- Full-time (On-Site) in Augusta, Maine

Job Description:

Provides nutrition education to all WIC clients in accordance with the State's WIC guidelines while ensuring education is appropriate for nutritional status and risk criteria at the same time while being sensitive to the client's lifestyle, income level, and family status.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement WIC program policies with care and precision.

  • Uphold confidentiality and sensitivity in client assessments.

  • Document nutrition and health assessments accurately.

  • Tailor nutrition prescriptions to address unique family needs.

  • Address nutrition, health, and breastfeeding concerns with professionalism and empathy.

  • Employ effective counseling techniques based on evidence-based information.

  • Identify and overcome barriers to facilitate positive behavior change.

  • Deliver nutrition education aligned with WIC guidelines.

  • Offer referrals with care and understanding.

  • Collaborate with families to develop achievable goals.

  • Organize and conduct WIC outreach clinics, extending our reach to more families.

  • Collaborate with community partners and engage in community services.

  • Drive outreach efforts to maintain client participation.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred licensure or registration as a Dietary Technician.

  • Education in nutrition, health, or related fields.

  • Passion for delivering excellent client care.

  • Accurate adherence to WIC program policies and procedures.

  • Strong communication and counseling skills.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based nutrition and health principles.

  • Understanding of breastfeeding support and promotion.

  • Familiarity with conducting clinical assessments.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing program needs.
