POSITION SUMMARY:This position plays a critical role in managing the institution’s financial strategies and operations, ensuring sound financial health and performance of the bank. This position will directly support the CFO in financial management areas such as financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, asset/liability management, liquidity, investments, allowance for credit losses, financial and regulatory reporting, risk management, audits and exams, as well as certain accounting responsibilities and assist in the update of policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Planning & Analysis:Conduct financial analysis to provide insights into the bank’s financial performance and identify areas for improvement. This may include analyzing financial statements, budget to actual performance, assessing profitability, and evaluating the financial impact of strategic decisions. Lead the development of the bank’s annual operating budget with guidance from the CFO. Collaborate with bank leadership and key managers to solicit inputs and refine assumptions. Identify cost saving or revenue enhancing opportunities, ensuring alignment with the bank’s strategic goals and objectives. Provide management with visibility into budget to actual variances to maintain budgetary discipline and awareness throughout the year. Develop and enhance the bank’s financial planning and analysis function to deliver insightful and actionable management information by recommending improvements to the CFO.

Asset/Liability Management (ALM):Manage the accurate and timely preparation of the bank’s Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO) reports, working in partnership with the bank’s ALM advisor. Responsible for the overall execution of the bank’s ALCO model, including sufficient documented support for model assumptions and controlling for execution quality. Supports the CFO in the development of strategies to maximize net interest income while maintaining strong risk management practices guided by internal policy and regulatory requirements. Analyze the impact of interest rate changes on the bank’s financial position and assist the CFO in the development and execution of strategies to mitigate those risks.

Liquidity:Manages the daily liquidity position of the bank under the direction of the CFO. Forecast cash flows to ensure the bank has enough liquidity to meet its obligations while optimizing profitability. This involves monitoring daily cash balances, projecting cash flow needs, and implementing strategies to manage cash effectively. Prepare timely and accurate reports on the status of the bank’s liquidity position and ensure the bank remains in compliance with its internal policy and regulatory requirements. Assist the CFO in monitoring and planning for contingent liquidity needs to ensure reliable access to liquidity under various operating environments.

Investments:Assist the CFO in the management of the Bank’s cash management and investment programs. Analyze investment opportunities, ensuring investments are in line with the bank’s risk tolerance and regulatory requirements. This includes evaluating investment recommendations and monitoring investment performance. Prepare regular updates and reports on the status of the Bank’s investment portfolio for the Investment Committee of the Board. Administer investment accounting to ensure accuracy of all postings and interest accruals. Remain abreast of current regulatory and accounting requirements and work with CFO to implement changes in operating procedures as necessary.

Allowance for Credit Losses (CECL): Responsible for the overall execution of the bank’s CECL model and quarterly allowance for credit loss calculation. This includes ensuring sufficient documented support for model assumptions, controlling for execution quality, as well as enabling the flow of information and approvals through the governance framework.

Financial & Regulatory Reporting:Accurately prepare financial reports for review and approval by the CFO. Work with the CFO in the development of financial reports that meet the needs of bank management and the Board of Directors.

Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accounting requirements. This includes staying up to date on regulatory changes, implementing necessary controls and procedures, and preparing regulatory reports as required.

Risk Management:Identify and mitigate financial risks that could impact the bank’s financial performance and stability. This includes assessing credit, market, liquidity, IRR and operational risk and assisting the CFO in implementing risk management strategies to mitigate these risks.

Audits & Exams:Actively assist or lead assigned portions of bank audits and examinations.

Policy & Procedures:Assist the CFO in the review and preparation of annual policy recommendations to the Board of Directors. Develop and enhance bank procedures as appropriate.

Management committees:Attend the Bank’s Asset/Liability Management Committee (ALCO) meetings and other meetings as needed.

Support Bank products/services:Maintain knowledge of current KSB products and services.

Actively utilize as many Bank products and services as possible in order to fully understand their features and benefits and to be able to communicate effectively with customers and prospective customers.

Community/public relations:Actively participate in community organizations and events.

Represent the Bank in the Community.

Other outside activities: Actively participate in industry trade group meetings and educational programs to remain abreast of current issues and requirements affecting Bank operations and job performance.

Other duties:Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality. Handle telephone inquiries and provide information to vendors and other departments in a professional and courteous manner. Attend and participate in Bank meetings. Attend internal and external training to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the position.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.

  • 7+ years’ experience in banking, financial management and accounting.

  • Strong understanding of financial markets, banking, accounting and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively to advance competing priorities.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and excellence.

  • Experience and advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); specific hands-on experience in spreadsheet and/or database management.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, the use of a serviceable automobile that is properly registered and proper liability automobile insurance as required by state law.

  • Must be able to lift files and other documents of approximately 20 pounds.

  • Must be able to spend extended periods of time operating a computer keyboard and working at a computer monitor.

  • Must be able to use the telephone for extended periods of time; must be able to communicate clearly by telephone; must have good listening ability and skills.

  • Must have strong written communication skills, including, letter and report-writing ability.

  • Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Must be able to prioritize and organize work flow; must have good attention to detail; must be able to handle multiple jobs.

  • Must be able to strategically think through a problem in order to find both short term and long term resolutions.
