Job Overview:

As Riverview Psychiatric Center’s (RPC) Deputy Superintendent, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Directing and coordinating essential activities necessary to carry out the mission of RPC and, during absences, assume the Superintendent’s responsibilities. Providing administrative oversight to hospital departments as assigned by the RPC Superintendent.

• Contributing to and providing leadership of a culture of collaboration and integration that supports the provision of patient-centered care, provides a safe environment for patients and staff, and supports innovation and creativity.

• Coordinating with forensic services, correctional facilities, courts, and police related to justice-involved individuals receiving care at RPC.

• Promoting RPC’s mission to the communities it serves and helping to build community awareness of RPC and its mission.

• Developing workforce strategies, including recruitment and retention of staff and employee engagement.

• Ensuring RPC is in compliance with all regulatory agencies.

• Collaborating with DHHS leadership and the RPC leadership team for the development of strategic and operational planning for RPC and ensuring it is coordinated and consistent with that of Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC),

• Ensuring the State-run system as a whole is meeting community and patient needs in an efficient and high-quality manner, is responding appropriately to changing needs, and is positioned to influence the delivery of care to adults with severe and persistent mental illness state-wide.

• Working with facility leadership and central office staff to optimize the usefulness of the electronic medical record for patient care, performance improvement and revenue cycle management processes.

• Identifying and ensuring the implementation of operational process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of hospital, patient flow, and revenue cycle operations.

• Reviewing legislative proposals and federal guidance to assess alignment with system goals.

• Assisting Superintendent with advocacy efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a similar discipline

  • Experience with interactions between the criminal justice and behavioral health system.

  • 5 years’ experience in hospital administration.

    Preferred candidates will also have:

  • A Master’s Degree in Health Care or Public Administration, or a similar discipline.

  • Strategic planning experience.

  • A Master’s Degree in Health Care or Public Administration.

  • Project management experience.

  • Budget and finance experience.

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff within the organization, including physicians and other clinical providers.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead teams.
