Abbott TPM Contract Manufacturing Manager in Auckland, New Zealand

A newly created opportunity has arisen for a TPM Contract Manufacturing Manager supporting our Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain business. Reporting to the Area Director (TPM Operations & R&D) based in Ireland , this is an Auckland based role.

This role is the key point of contact between Abbott and the Third-Party Manufacturer (TPM). The primary focus is to manage the strategic relationship with the TPM while also supporting and resolving day to day issues. You will seek to drive continuous improvement and drive more efficient ways of conducting business, while ensuring the TPM delivers its volume commitments on time and in full.

In this role you will:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the TPM and Abbott Nutrition to manage and develop a strategic relationship between the two parties

  • Negotiation and maintenance of contracts

  • Responsible for the successful resolution of all business and supply chain issues including materials management with TPM

  • Ensure that capacity, capabilities and systems are in place to execute reliable and cost-effective supply of goods from TPM

  • Monitor and track key performance metrics and develop strategies to improve performance

  • Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations with the TPM

  • Manage all New Product Introduction activities at the TPM, including supporting R&D trials, First Lot to Stock production and supply chain activities related to commercialisation of new products

  • Lead continuous improvement, cost and process improvement projects

  • Liaise with purchasing functions to understand pricing structure for key ingredients and commodities

  • Responsible for TPM P&L including standard setting, cost changes and purchase price variance

Who we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or similar discipline

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in nutritional powder manufacturing and packing plus additional experience in the following disciplines; supply chain, materials management, operational excellence, financial analysis, lean manufacturing or quality.

  • Proven history of delivering results in a similar role

  • Experience in working with multiple functional areas and possess an understanding of the various operational disciplines (Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Production Planning) is essential

  • A strong sense of urgency with the ability to make and implement tough and timely decisions with a focus on results; ability to adapt to changing business demands and take accountability for the entire supply chain

  • Effective and exceptional communication (verbal and written) with tact and diplomacy are critical; ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage several priorities at one time, with excellent problem solving and logical thinking skills

Due to the inherent requirements of the role, the preferred candidate must provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination before the commencement date and maintain a fully vaccinated status for the period of employment.
